Tip of the Week
It seems that when I do wind tips the wind dies. So I may resign myself to writing ONLY wind tips forever more!!

As a follow on to last week’s tip, this week we look at how to select the correct club when into the wind. When playing in strong wind try always to have a short warm up on the range to gauge the affect the wind is having on the ball, hit a few shots into the wind to establish whether it’s a 1, 2 or 3 club wind. (If it’s blowing harder than that then rather go home, hire a DVD and take the day off or go play Hankey!!)

Now let’s say that it’s a 2 club wind directly into you and you have 100m to the flag; usually your 100m club is an 8 iron but because it’s a 2 club wind you select a 6 iron, right?? Wrong, rather take one more because you want to try to hit the ball nice and easy, so take your 5 and swing within yourself. This will help you maintain balance through the shot, hit the ball with less spin and control your direction much better.

Happy Practicing!!

Ryan
