Short Putts

Caryl’s Corner…

Here is a pic of the Blue Pea in front of the Higgins' house. It's rather special as besides being beautiful it's a new species. I've sent a pressing of this plant to Kirstenbosch and it has been sent overseas to the expert who deals with Fabaceae (The Pea family). He has announced that it is either a new species or a new sub species and so it still needs to be described. For a plant to be described takes some time so we don't as yet know the species name of this Psoralea.

Exciting for The Links to have a new species waiting for a name!

Kind Regards,
Caryl

MR 67
Second Best Amateur round EVER!
The Annual St Francis Links Junior Open took place at St Francis Links– Sunday 30; July 2011 - played over 18holes – a field of 64 players competed. This was also the 10th Order of Merit Tournament for 2011.

The Event was made possible due to a generous sponsorship of Prizes from the St Francis Links.

The course was played over a par 70 as the 2nd and 3rd holes were shortened due to very wet conditions. The course was nevertheless more than playable and the greens as always in excellent condition

Brilliant golf from Hando Brophy (grade 11) of Framesby High, led to winning the event with a 3-under par, 67 that included a hole in one on the 14th. He also won the under 18 Division, with Vico Kuhn, from Brandwag (76) second and Quintes Barnard also from Brandwag third on 78.
